Brussels-based Easyvest, an online financial advisor, has secured a €13M investment from Belgium’s second-largest bank insurer Belfius, and federal holding and investment company SFPIM.
According to FDmagazine, Frédéric Van der Schueren, CEO of Belfius Insurance, says, “Our social security system is strong, but is under pressure due to the ageing population. The partnership with Easyvest enables us to help companies offer their employees better pension options. Together we want to accelerate the adoption of supplementary pension plans.”
Koen Van Loo, CEO of SFPIM, adds, “SMEs represent a large part of the Belgian economy, but often do not make sufficient use of the possibilities of supplementary pension plans. Easyvest’s innovative approach is in line with our objectives to ensure the long-term prosperity of Belgium.”
Capital utilisation
The funding will help Easyvest expand its pension solutions, particularly targeting SMEs by offering a digital tool for supplementary pension plans. By leveraging exchange-traded funds (ETFs), Easyvest aims to boost long-term returns for Belgian employees.
Matthieu Remy, co-founder of Easyvest mentions in a LinkedIn post, “I’m grateful to announce Easyvest’s latest funding round of €13M, led by Belfius and SFPIM, to better the traditional group insurance for employees.”
“Progressively saving money for retirement during one’s career is important to maintain a standard of living. Since our humble beginnings, Easyvest’s mission has been to help Belgians to build that savings pot in a simple and effective way via the use of ETF index funds and a delightfully human customer service.”
“Today, we are officially launching a pension plan solution for employees. It is everything you come to expect from traditional group insurance…but better.”
Remy further adds, “For employers, we simplify drastically the admin process. For employee, we allow them to invest their pension savings in ETF.”
“The element of trust is essential for financial institutions like Easyvest. Particularly in pension: how to ensure that your savings and money will still be there in 30 years when you will retire? To answer to that legitimate concern, we are delighted to welcome Belfius, Belgium’s second-largest bank insurer, and SFPIM, Belgium’s Sovereign Fund, as investors.”
